- What does “free during beta” mean?
- Right now, Memoryist is in free public beta: every account gets the full experience — uploads, quizzes, spaced review, read-aloud, and OCR for scanned PDFs — with no credit card required. Limits exist only to keep the service healthy for everyone.
- What happens when the beta ends?
- When we reach general availability, a permanent Free tier stays, and paid plans unlock the higher ceilings. We'll give advance notice by email before any beta account is downgraded or charged — nothing changes silently.
- What file formats work?
- Memoryist accepts PDFs. Regular text-based PDFs parse on any tier. Scanned PDFs (image-only pages) need OCR to extract text, which is a Pro feature — included during the public beta, with a monthly page cap.
- Is my uploaded book content private?
- Yes. Books you upload are private to your account — other users can't see them. We only send limited excerpts to the AI providers that power quiz generation and read-aloud; the Privacy Policy lists every provider and what's shared.
